October - Disaster & Doggies
The last week has seen us on a diving charter, helping with a marine survey of the reef where the HMNZS Manawanui ran aground on a reef off the south coast of Upolu. Damage to the reef is extensive, with fuel leaking from the wreck effecting the pristine coastline for miles. We were putting marine scientists from The Waitt Foundation, working for MNRE on the wreck for 5 days. They are still there documenting what is happening to the environment. On the way back to Apia the weather was wicked, but Tautua & Aussie still managed to land a few fat Dogtooth Tuna and Spaniards.
